Attributed blocks are not subject to this issue. Lisp routines are nice but get outdated by software language updates. Plus it is simple to add new symbols as needed. However I never have to worry with updating software so it has paid for its self many times over.

My total overhead cost in labor to create the library was $720 based on our overhead hourly rate. (1BVL-NT-RT.dwg = bevel one side- note on the right) I used simple abbreviations for file names like (1-FIL-NT-RT.dwg = single fillet weld-note on the right) (2-FIL-NT-LFT.dwg = fillet weld both sides-note on the left. For our product that was some 120+ symbols combinations we use, all with editable attributes for weld size and notes. I created our library of attributed block for all weld symbols isn less than two days.

CAD blocks and files can be downloaded in the formats DWG, RFA, IPT, F3D. I know this is a very old post but my personal opinion is that creating a library of attributed blocks of all required weld symbols is less expensive and eliminates issues with lisp routine being outdated by change in programming language.
